4 Tips for Dealing with Clutter

1. Find a place for everything.

If you have an item (or items) that seems to float from place to place, never finding a home, it’s probably clutter.

Let it go. This is a great place to start de-cluttering.

Put everything away first, round up all the floating stuff and purge it, then start hitting the areas like drawers and closets.

2. Stop shopping. 

If you find yourself, yet again, needing to reorganize or de-clutter you are likely bringing too much stuff into your home. Knock. It. Off.

3. Just start.

Even if you have a hard time letting things go at first, you will gain momentum as you go. When you get loosened up, you can come back around for another pass.

Start with super simple things like plastic take-out containers and work your way up to clothing and souvenirs.

4. Choose one challenge at a time. 

Tackle a drawer or a closet. Stick to projects that can be completed in the time you have. Allow more time than you think you will need.

Don’t start a project that will be left unfinished, you will have even more of a mess and will lose all hope.
